Spring Salmon March 15 into May is prime time for Spring Salmon. Considered to
be the best eating Salmon of the year, this run of fish consists of
both Hatchery and Natives. Although fun to catch, the Natives are
protected and must be released. |
Fall Salmon August kicks off the Chinook and Silver Salmon opener and lasts
through October at Buoy 10, which is located at the mouth of the
Columbia River. It's this area where Salmon gather, feeding on
anchovies and getting ready for their trip up river. Reel Action
Guide Service fishes the area at the mouth of the Columbia and also
the Longview, Washinton area. These hard hitting, line ripping

Sturgeon May through July is prime time to catch keeper Stureon in the
Columbia River Estuary in Astoria, Oregon. These aggressive biters
are a thrill to catch on light tackle, adding to the excitement and
challenge. When hooked in the shallow waters in this area, Sturgeon
will make long runs, and they like to jump as well. The "Reel
Action" here can be non-stop at times, catching 10 to 25 Sturgeon a
trip and multiple hook ups are common. Oversize Sturgeon June and July, Catching oversize Sturgeon at Bonneville Dam
heats up, at the same time millions of shad are passing over the
dam. We start the day catching shad for bait, then we fish for the
Oversize Sturgeon. Hooking into one or more of these prehistoric
giants is a fight you won't forget, sometimes lasting 45 minutes to
an hour. We've hooked and released fish that range in size from 7
to 11 feet long. This makes for an action packed fishing experience
for all to enjoy. |
